MC 321 Audio Production and Sound Design

Spring 2022

Throughout this course, I had the opportunity to develop my skills in using an Edirol R-44 Sound Field Recorder with an Audio Technica AT897 microphone to record original sound as well as understanding how to use Adobe Audition to create unique, quality sound design.

To do so, we were tasked with redesigning the audio for Gal's dream sequence scene (1:30min) from Jonathan Glazer's Sexy Beast. Initially, we were not allowed to mix or manipulate our sound further than gain and all sounds had to be original and recorded by hand.

In the second iteration of the project, we were tasked with incorporating 35% pre-recorded sounds from free sound effects libraries as well as mixing and editing the first iteration to take into account recommendations from the professor and peer critiques in a second iteration.

Lastly, we formed new teams and were tasked with creating an original sound design to the video or scene of your choice using 65% original, recorded sound and 35% pre-recorded sound from sound effect libraries.
